The times, they are 'a' changing. We had roses blooming in late November.

We have also got hog weed flowering this January by a trail about half a mile away. You may have a local name for it.

A quick stalking of Refugee1 suggest he's new to the thread! Welcome, it's pretty nice around here and Cal usually fills us with almost-edible photographs.

Might post a pic of Miso soup if I make it again tomorrow.

When starting out you might wish to consider a sushi mat to do your rolling. And, you have already learned about over filling the Nori.

Its the placing of the ingredients which is putting me off, next time I make them I'll have to find and print out a good recipe, but the websites which have the step by step instructions don't appreciate me printing them out, I get like 7 pages of images with step by step images, too many to print out.

I think putting the recipe on an ipad should do me good. I'll try again in a day or two, the salmon is well cooled in the crisper and the avocados will take a while to ripen up.

If you wish a smaller roll, cover the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the Nori. Larger? 1/2 - 2/3 remembering to always leave some of the wrap uncovered for the last part of your rolling. Lay the end flap face down and the internal moisture will do the sealing for you.

I am sure this will spark some interest. Today's New York Times food section was almost entirely devoted to Canadian Food -- you folks must love your butter biscuits. There was an almost pangyric to newer Canadian whiskies -- me I prefer my VO or Crown Royal.

If you can't get beyond their paywall, let me know,

"The Caesar" -- you folks actually drink this stuff: It Came, It Quenched, It Conquered Canada: The Caesar - The New York Times
