Except maybe people have a real sickness and that makes it worse.

In some cases : Sylvia Millecam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In most cases, one might assume there's a real 'cause' for putting faith in homeopathic drugs.
Which operates on the same floor level as scam games and audio gadgetry, imo.
Different market, identical principles : different story, same routine.

Nice box. Learning from the rest of us, Bruce?

No.

And I have patents to cover my work. Something that Mr. Bybee doesn't, there!

Please enjoy a quote from one of my patents:

BACKGROUND

The modern Western Chromatic scale has been around for some time. However, there was much debate initially regarding the “interval”, or space, between neighboring notes.

For example, Pythagoras, Philolaos, Boethius and Zarlino, who were rationalists, justified their systems based on numerical relations (2/1, 3/2, 9/8, 5/4, etc.). Zarlino justifies his system of scenario using only the first six numbers; there were only six planets known at the time.

More complex scenarios, such as the notion of overtones and acoustics comes later, in the XVII century, with Sauveur. Historically, other tone systems were proposed giving rise to other categories of consonances.

For example Archytas, a student of Philolaos, noticed that all the “Pythagorean ratios”, such as 2/1, 3/2, 4/3, and 9/8, are epimore (superparticular [n+1/n]), and built another system based on the superparticular ratios.
He also built another system based on the Pythagorean scale that contained four fifths and five fourths, giving more commensurabilities than can be attained from any other eight notes.

Eventually, the modern chromatic scale emerged that divided the space between octaves (a doubling of a note) into twelve intervals. Each note in the chromatic scale is referred to in music theory according to its relative position in the scale, i.e., the note after the root note is the “second”, the next note is the “third” and so on.

We all have our little problems, just when I thought I had found milk frother nirvana, the thing triggers my espresso machine to stand-by flushing.
I just want Coffee out, and Froth in, will have to install a Backbee.
Hah! I spent many episodes wrestling with an Atomic coffee machine, trying to get the damn thing to do something useful to the milk! Gave up, and the thing managed to rust itself solid - still have it, at least it's worth a few bucks now ...

No no, that ain't how it works. It's more like this:

1 - Make up a "problem."
2 - Tell people how horrible it is and make them afraid of it.
3 - Offer them a "cure" for the "problem."

se
Some people do hear "real" problems - get over it ... :D

At least one approach that can work, that I've found quite successful, is to be aware of what the goal is, a firm idea of what level of SQ is possible, if no compromises are allowed which undermine efforts made.

Then the process is to isolate each deficiency that is causing an issue, and resolve it. When all are taken care of, the desired result ensues.

The seemingly typical alternative which is to focus on one area of the overall puzzle, and concentrate all one's technical knowhow and expertise on bringing that one mechanism to as close as perfection as you can, while ignoring everything else appears fraught with problems. As in, the end result, the completed audio system still doesn't sound so brilliant - so, perhaps the smart thing to do then is blame bad recording technology, or that speakers are notorious for bad distortion ... ;)

Frational Articulation, pure BS that should be actionable fraud.

Maybe. But you would have to overcome the US Government Patent Office agreeing to its claims as a legitimate useful design to be successful in court as fraud. Wouldnt you? Not so easy to do in practice and a lot more costly. Now someone without patents would be an easier target.

Not really, no. You don't have to prove your patent actually works. You just have to show that it's "different." And even then, the patent office is largely just a big rubber stamp. John Bedini was able to secure a patent for what amounts to a perpetual motion machine. Ray Kimber secured a patent on a cable geometry that had already been patented.

Bottom line, having a patent doesn't mean a damn thing with regard to whether or not your device actually "works." And unless you have some pretty deep pockets to defend your patents, they're little more than marketing fodder.

And perhaps the best example showing what a joke the patent office is with regard to patent claims, Bedini was able to secure a patent for his "Clarifier," which did nothing more than spin a CD in a fixed magnetic field. Yet he claimed in his patent that doing this not only resulted in data compression on the disc, that it also rearranged the data on the disc. It was a total joke and I'm told he had to go through several patent attorneys until he found one that was willing to even file for the patent, but he was granted the patent just the same.
