Help! I need to locate a small transformer that will fit inside a 1 RU chassis (1.75" high external) that has dual secondary windings with a 100V primary.
The first winding is 30V and the second is 10V with a center tap for both. this needs to be a very small transformer. low current. the stock unit was a E-I core but a small Toriod would work as well. I have about 2-3" side to side but the height is the problem. with a chassis that is 1.75" tall on the outside and maybe 1.6" inside the transformer needs to be very short. I can mount an E-I sideways inside the chassis as well. Anyone???? Zc |

check w/ apexjr?
bottom toroid (in red) meets w/ 20V requirement, but not both windings in one... space limited to one, I suppose? rough to fit in 1 RU space...

I will check that item out. but i need 30Vct and 10Vct with the center tap common to both. If the transformers were really small i might be able to fit two. but otherwise i have to find a single transformer with both. They are rectifying and regulating to get +/- 15v and +/- 5 vdc. I might have to build an external box and just put two transformers in it etc but that is not the ideal situation for this. plus the added expense just doesnt make this a worth while fix. And that just might have to be it's fate. Was hoping some DIY'er would say. oh yeah i have something like that..... Zc |

i have a small, 30vct toroid. maybe 20-30va... it is a 2.5 inch by 1 inch. 7 bucks plus shipping. couldn't you just use some 7x05's or 337/317 to get you +/-5v off the primary supply?

Thanks for the offers. the unit isnt worth a whole lot of effort. it is a very old unit and most people that have them, love them, but they just arent worth much. they are developing +/-15vdc and +/- 5vdc and the rectifiers, caps and regs are all on board. I could just mount two transformers in an external box i guess. but again for the same price i can buy another whole unit.
Just thought i would see if some DIY'er would say, oh yeah i have one of those.... Thanks Zc |
