Default My Diy subwoofer for sale! "Dominator"

I wanna sell my subwoofer

If photo's are wanted, just say

the subwoofer is a gloss black finished dual 12" alpine 2005 type R's, the subwoofer dimensions are 95cm high x 40cm wide x 48cm depth, the woofers see 90 litres in total together, thats everything minised off, the box is "ultra braced" all walls are ribbed plus 30mm dowel rods spanning the box, 50mm baffle, 47mm back wall, all other walls 25mm, the vent length is 100cm tuning to 25hz, with very little chuffing at high volume levels, its a slot port, 100cm long x 6cm high x 35cm wide, box also obviesly has wire terminals

The amp that powers it is in a separate box, it is a O-audio 500 watt rms bash amplifier, this has a parametric amp -12db from 20 - 80hz, meaning I can pull out really bads room modes and flatten it very well

It took me ages to build and was expensive, but it was still cheaper than anything Ive heard in all the shops here....harvey norman and sound smart...It Crushes all competition, hence the name "Dominator"

some measurments done iside reavealed, 110 Db at 16hz, then limited by amp, maxed out radioshack spl meter at 40 - 60hz which is 126db, all correction applied

and if you live close by you can have a listen and audition it

Price I want $1800 AU, o.n.o

any questions or complaints, say pls

thanks Cya

I think that for most people here, the price is much too high. You're looking to make a dramatic profit over materials (forget labor when selling a DIY project), not to mention- they're car audio drivers. Most people would want something like Dayton Ref. 15HF drivers for a sub anywhere near that price.

Sorry, but NOBODY will bite at that price. Look at Zaph's recent posts about diy projects- you're lucky to get materials costs back.

lol yeah I guessed that, I dont wanna part with my subwoofer at all, So I put a price that will make me part with it on it, so if no ones interested ill happily keep it but if some one bought it id also be happy.

I know it seems high priced, but you maybe assuming that im a shitty car or mega bass junkie, this puts out trust me, also these 12" woofers cost just as much as a dayton ref 15"

Also I wont say how much it cost me but the profit margin isnt big as you think

I also generally know that home woofers are better for home but I though Id try out alpines midrange - highend woofers and the results are well above all subwoofers in my area costing near or higher priced

another thing lol, im not angry even though it may come through as anger..

just wanna say if people know that generally DIY subwoofers cane store bought for the price other than size, why wont people buy diy made subwoofers knowing that they will be cheaper and better

Not quite sure what you mean: size is a motivating factor in store bought subs- store-buying people typically like smaller, either via their priorities of interior decor or understanding of what it takes to make serious bass.

The DIYer who is willing to have a huge, heavy sub will usually be able to build one, and enjoys the process, so won't pay for labor.

No matter the quality of a woofer (And I'd be surprised if the alpines were like the daytons- do they have shorting rings? Don't think I've ever seen a car woofer with a shorting ring), the typical person willing to pay 2k for a monster sub doesn't want the look of car woofers- highly visible driver branding and flashy cones are generally considered undesirable for home woofers at any high pricepoint.

None of this is meant to question the quality of your sub, just your ability to sell it due to market forces. I saw the box, very impressive, and I'd hate to lift it with a friend even.

I agree with all of what you posted and it is a pain in the **** to move, only real reason I got the alpine types R's is because I had no access to good quality home woofers of around the same ability, I originally wanted "tempest" woofers but the australian shop never answerd my emails, so I had to continue

How about $1200 not including amplifier or $1500 including amplifier
