WTB: A decent soldering iron.

I'd like a good-quality soldering iron, preferably temperature-controlled. I have some stuff for trade, although
I can pay cash.

That iron is hard to beat for the price. I've been using the older model for two years now and my only complaint is that the paint is peeling off the soldering iron holder, but that doesn't hurt the functionaity of the iron at all.

Get that and a couple spare tips and you can get a decent cheap digital multimeter for free too. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

How is the cable between the unit and the iron. On my current station the cable is quite unwieldy and inflexible, sometimes making it a hassle to work with.

You might have to pay cash, but I'd suggest ANYTHING that says "Weller" on it.... should last you forver.

The cable could be more flexible. If you'ver ever used similar style Hakko or Weller units the cable feels almost exactly the same. The Hakko stations we just got at work with the same specs are only slightly better quality but cost twice as much. The Hakko tips cost a bit more than the CSI tips too.

I had very good luck with my weller. I used it for years. I got a Metcal and gave the weller to a friend who is still using it.

If you have deep enough pockets, Metcal is outstanding.
