Thumbs up Sonic Frontiers Sfcd-1 Hdcd Player

I just posted my SONIC FRONTIERS SFCD-1 HDCD player on Ebay and it is available in Canada and the USA. Check it out!

You are bidding on one of the best CD players available: the Sonic Frontiers SFCD-1. This player plays both Redbook and HDCD discs and incorporates a tube output stage using a Sovtek 6922 dual-triode for each channel.

The unit is in supurb condition and includes the remote, original brochure and power cord. The laser was replaced April 28, 2006 and the invoice will be included with the sale. Includes original manual and packaging (box is a little worn). Sonic Frontiers products continue to be supported by Anthem/Sonic Frontiers. The web site is: www.anthemav.com. The list retail price for this unit was $5000 Canadian. Please note that the door mechanism on all SFCD-1 players is a little noisier than most players.

Robert Harley of Stereophile described this superb sounding unit as follows:

The SFCD-1's sound staging was world-class. The player excelled at revealing space, depth, and spatial cues. The presentation was surrounded (on naturally-miked recordings) with an ambient bloom that opened up the music. The HDCD-encoded From the Age of Swing (Reference Recordings RR-59CD) was reproduced with a huge sense of air and transparent space around instrumental outlines. The soundstage was also deep and wide, with fine gradations of depth. The SFCD-1's resolution of spatial information made instruments seem to "light up" the acoustic. I could hear distinct reflections from the rear and sidewalls, rather than reverberation fused to the image.

I encourage you to read the full review at
