Don't these things have decent quality 5 gang remote plastic alps pots? It comes in this handy box of parts, brought to you by Yamaha. I think they even did a few models with 6 channel passive volume. Find a a dead one.

Great for fixing that DCX2496 problem. Nice little remote shunt volume passive box. A little bit of 2.1 with the five channels, maybe.

Nice finds. I've been thinking along the same lines, lately. I keep coming accross similiar things at pawn, thrift, and other second hand shops rather often now, usually at ridiculous prices(compared to their original cost). Plenty of nice goodies inside and half decent cases to build with for cheap.
