Probably because they 'sound' better that way! IIRC, there was a thread on this topic about 3 yrs ago, if you are interested. Not sure of the title, but something like "skinning caps" Regards,

I wanted to sell higher value rubycon ZL's as BlackGates. :P I think they look cooler that way. undecided about the sound. I've never listened to an identical cap with and without plastic. |

the Black Gate Wk power tank is 214uF, by the way. 200V max.
It is non-polar, but the shielded lead is marked. |
