so, after a lot of though, i have decided to sell some of my faceplates. i have 5, but i really only need 2. so, i will have three of these faceplates for sale. in addition, i am selling the "matching" heatsinks along with them. if someone doesnt want the heatsinks, i will sell them separately. but i will ONLY sell the heatsinks alone after the faceplates are sold.
what are the faceplates, you ask? well, look at my avatar picture. its those. i have attached some more and better pictures of them. let me first explain what they are... a few years ago, i decided to clone the case of a pass labs XA160. the first thing to do was copy the faceplate. my faceplates are made out of 6061 aluminum. it was milled by a guy who does prototype milling for NASA here in colorado. the work is VERY precise. you can measure it all with calipers and get exact numbers. it all fits together like a glove. there is finishing work that is needed. its a smooth finish, but has milling swirls in the finish. it will need to be wet-sanded for a final finish. but other than that, its fine. it also has drilled holes for mounting on the back plate. each faceplate consists of 3 pieces, one back plate and two fins. the back plate is exactly 8" x 17" x 0.25". the fins are 7/8" thick and 7.5" x 8". the heatsinks are from Aavid but were bought surplus, so they have some holes and stuff in them. once the outside is sanded down (or blasted), the would look great, then they could be anodized or something. they are pretty big. they have a C/W rating of 0.81 per 3" length. since the faceplate is 8" high, so are the heatsinks. the whole thing was designed for two sections of heatsinks per side. here is the link for the extrusion profile on the heatsinks... http://www.aavidthermalloy.com/cgi-b...3&airflow=57.2 now, lets talk price. as i said before, i want to sell 4 heatsinks with a faceplate as a set. if someone buys JUST a faceplate, the 4 matching heatsinks will be for sale sepearately. if you quote the metal price along for the faceplates at onlinemetals or elsewhere, the metal costs alone for the faceplate are around $200 per. the heatsinks were around $30 per section. so, parts cost alone is around $300 per set. the machining cost $120/hour and there is about 5 hours of work in each faceplate. (yeah, i know). im asking $500 per faceplate and 4 heatsinks. i will take offers, but i want to see what i can get first. this is a pretty unique item. i am personally going to finish my two faceplates into full amps. i just dont need the other three. thanks for looking! i am also posting some other classifieds for aleph parts (i have bags of matched fets and boards!). thanks for looking. |

Those are beautiful pieces of of work. Out of my price range though.
Are you willing to share the CAD files for the front plate once they are sold? |

If you paid for the work you might be able to get it. I'm not sure though.
