Pure filament silk* braided sleeving. Ideal for dressing up internal wiring. Outside diameter is approximately 2mm. Inside diameter is suitable for 18-20 gauge solid core bare wire.

*Filament silk is silk made from the long (upwards of 3,000 meters) contiguous filaments from the silkworm cocoon. This is opposed to spun silk which is made from the much shorter, leftover fibers which are spun into thread similar to cotton thread.

TIP: To keep fraying to a minimum, the silk braid may be baked in an approximately 250°F oven for 15-20 minutes. This seems to help relieve the stress on the threads from the braiding process. You may also use very short lengths of heatshrink tubing at each end.
