I recently bought a shed-load of old IBM token ring hubs, thought they'd be useful as boxes for my various audio projects over the next while... Remove the front panel label, bolt on a new bit of aluminium front panel and bob's your uncle... instant amp case!
Looks like even after I've built my quad-amped, actively-crossed-over dream system, i'm gonna have about 15 of these suckers going spare - so I thought I'd offer them first to list members before flogging the rest on ebay..
These are 2U rack-mount cases - 76mm high x 430mm wide x 315mm deep. Detachable rack mounting brackets so no problem if you want a case without the 'ears'
The lid of the case is made from some sort of plastic in a fetching dark green/brown colour. The underside of the lid has a metal lining, with spring tabs that press against the rest of the case for shielding. The case itself is zinc plated steel.
And best of all ... they stack! Yep, these have matching dimples on the top side to take the feet of the next case up. If you've seen this sort of gear in a network cupboard at work, you'll get the idea.

These are reasonably heavy, so I'd prefer to ship only within the UK, or possible to western europe. Postage costs would get silly further afield.
I'm asking £8.00 per unit, complete with power supply, fans, and motherboard(s). Postage at cost, or if you're around London could arrange collection.
If you don't want the innards, let me know and I'll strip them out.
The motherboard is pretty specialised, mainly surface-mount components. Not too many salvagable components for audio use I think.
There is a decent switchmode PSU in there - haven't measured it yet, but expect the usual +5V and +12V sort of thing. I think it says 70W total output on the sticker.
