I would like to offer you a public apology for a recent posting I made to your Trading Post announcing a new product offered to the DIY audio community.
Before posting the announcement I read both the diyAudio FAQ and Moderators statements. I missed any reference to a no advertising policy. May I suggest making it a line item in your FAQ? It is confusing because of the many posts offering PCBs/parts kits for chip amps, attenuators, etc. For example as I write this the top thread in Trading Post is "Component Kit for Ultra Fast Diode Bridge." I am in the kit business so I see the many 'kits' offered and thought "OK, they want to know about what's out there". Now I know most of these 'kits' are not for profit attempts to meet minimum order quantities for cool parts and get a few PCBs made. The confusion is at what point does one cross the line from committed hobbyist to commercial? I am very much on the commercial side of that line. As the name of my company implies I long for an ideal of a symbiotic relationship, like the trade guilds of old, between customers and I. However, I do recognize that like most dreams of mutualism this is likely a bit far fetched and diyaudio must protect itself from crass commercialism.
Given that I have run afoul of policy I have asked the moderators to delete the thread. Please accept my apology.

Indeed that would have probably been my thread at the top pf the page there. I too have notice a rather large number of kits being put together at the moment (and half wish I hadn't started another one) and I guess it does seem strange as to which are defined as commercial and which are "DIY".
Personaly, think there should be a clearer pollicy on this, and that there should be a section tucked away on the site somewhere, where a moderated list of oppertunities (comercial or otherwise) can be displayed for the benifit of the board. As, at the end of the day, if someone is getting something they find useful at a good price, I see no reason not to let them know about it here (wether the person selling is making a proffit or not). But, then I'm sure this could be one of those problems which can never be solved to please everyone, and I feel it may continue for quite a while before actualy getting any clearer for us.

I agree, but commercial offerings and group buys must be clearly seperated.
I recently offered to do a group buy for the AX people, in return for participating in some of their group buys (though I dont build AX or have anything to do with such), an I sure wouldnt like to be treated like a commercial offer. Hence the need for sharp and clear seperation of the two.
