the audio doesnt come from the ide port the audio comes from the audio port on the back.. the ide port is for controlling the Drive..

ah, anyone have a picture of the back of an IDE drive? i dont remember an audio out on the back of a drive.

Looks very similar to this design:
http://private.addcom.de/KeithWilson/Projects/mucop.htm which I have been considering building one for a few months, as the schematic and source code is out there. What PIC did you use for your design, as that seems like a good price for a kit, except for the shipping charges! -- Brian |

so, jason, i feel like an idiot, but there have got to be some newbies wondering... howe do you take those two pins and get a digital out? can you just goto a coax out? |

hey it is ok.. some cd rom drives dont have audio out or digital out. some are just ide or scsi..
You have to build a Dac Digital Anolgue Converter.. i am gong to build one and try this project asap as son as i get a job. ... |

ok. i knew about the DAC thing.
i was just wondering how you got from a 2-pin to a coax... can you just take the two pins and connect them to a RCA jack, then to a dac huh? if so, i think i might go for this project, it sounds good! |
