TDA1541A Taiwan for sale !

Apparently John (EC designs) decided to sell his stock of TDA1541A. Just read this in another thread. I know he has many original Taiwan 1998 made chips (sound IMO better than older S1 chips) but I don't know if he has other versions. An email can throw a light on this. I think this is a very rare chance to find true original new/unused TDA chips.

Anyway:

Take your chance and obtain them before you can not find original ones anymore. If the server is already smoking please try tomorrow 😀

I have made a list of TDA1541A chips that are in stock:

HSH8740 2 Y
HSH8749 2 Y
HSH8844 2
HSH8910 2
HSH9305 2
HSH9310 2
HSH9314 2
HSH9548 2
HSH9804 2 (Taiwan)

I purchased these for the octal D-I DAC and DI-8 projects that are based on eight TDA1541A chips. That's why I bought so many of these chips.

These projects can be found on my thread (building the ultimate NOS DAC using the TDA1541A).

Hi John,

Just submitted my order for 2 TDA1541A. If possible please reserve the Taiwan made HSH9804 for me 😀

I've long heard that the Taiwan TDA1541A are the chips to get if you can't afford the crown.

Thanks,
Edward Tam

EC designs only use original parts. This is a seller with a good reputation and John and his brother are both technical perfectionists as well. Send an email to them in case you have wishes/questions.

info@ecdesigns.nl

BTW I am not affiliated with EC Designs, just like their stuff (everything made in house from hardware to software !) and happen to know they have original TDA's. I visited them once and was baffled by the knowledge and craftsmanship.

Just for clarity,

All TDA1541A chips we sell through our website will be 1998 Taiwan versions just like on the picture.

We will notify people when TDA1541A 1998 Taiwan stock is exhausted.

I purchased the dual JFETs (2SJ109-BL and 2SK389-BL) long time ago at a certified supplier when these JFETs were still available.

I used these double JFETs in various projects, these work fine and meet specs.

+1

Also visited John some 10 years ago and spent way more time at his place than originally planned. I was, and still am, flabbergasted by the perfectionism of his work.

I have had 4 of these Taiwan chips for some years now and my impression of them is completely subjective and based solely on feeling while listening (no measurements):
Generally to me it seems they have more modern sound compared to their brothers with a stripe. Sound is not as warm, which to some is better, to some probably not - depends on taste, personal preferences and maybe music you listen to. Definetely the sound is more detailed and seems to be more dynamic, which is always better i guess.
I also have a S2 chip and out of my 4 Taiwan guys only one sounds kind of similar, but not quite there yet. The other 3 lack that spark that triggers your emotions and engages you so, that it makes you cry or makes your skin crawl. S2 does that and the one Taiwan chip also does it but not as much or as easily (it's hard to explain this).

My advice, if you can afford it, is:
Since Ecdesigns is selling these at a reasonable price, get 10 of them and listen and choose the best two for a balanced DAC. With the other 8 just make one of ecdesign's Utimate NOS DACs.
Then turn up the volume and go to heaven. 🙂

P.S. If I could afford it, I would buy 4 more and try to make the Utimate NOS DAC with 8 interpolated Taiwan chips.
