Default FS: Infinity Reference Standard 2.5 Loudspeakers

I purchased these loudspeakers new in 1982. *They are in very good condition, with no marks or scratches on the American Oak cabinets. *The grill cloths are original and in good condition. * These speakers use the Infinity-Watkins dual voice coil 12-inch*woofer, two EMIM midrange drivers, and two EMIT tweeters (one firing backwards). *All drivers are fully functional.

I had the woofers re-foamed in the mid-90ís and the surrounds are still in excellent condition.

The configuration of the flat ribbon technology Emit tweeters and Emim midranges which offer bidirectional radiation patterns provides an open and spacious sound generally associated with flat panel and electrostatic speakers. Transient response and lateral dispersion is excellent, creating a listening environment with superb imaging and a wide sweet spot. The innovative Watkins woofer*provides an extended low frequency range without any boominess.

These are big speakers, and they are very heavy. They are also in very good condition, having spent their entire working existence as the centrepieces of a dedicated listening environment.

Original printed manuals included.

I am asking $1,500 for these loudspeakers. Local pickup is recommended due to their size and weight. However, if a buyer wants to arrange transport I can assist.

Manufacturers Specifications:
Frequency response: 30 - 32,000 Hz, +/- 3 dB
Horizontal dispersion: -2 dB @ 60 degrees at 20 kHz
Suggested amplifier power: 100 to 300 watts per channel
Nominal impedance: 4 ohms
Drivers (per channel):
One 12-inch Infinity-Watkins dual-drive woofer with polypropylene cone
Two EMIM midrange drivers in dipole configuration
Two EMIT tweeters, one facing backwards
Crossover frequencies: 300 Hz, 5,000 Hz
Dimensions: 129 x 46 x 28 cm (H x W x D)
Finish: Solid American Oak and veneers
Weight: 50 kg
Other: Bi-amp capable

These speakers present a difficult load to an amplifier. If you have a solid state amplifier that is specified for low impedance loads, or a vacuum tube amplifier, you should be OK. Many consumer grade amplifiers do not have the current capacity to handle the complex load presented by an RS 2.5 speaker.
