FS: Large Toroidal Transformers
2 Attachment(s)
I have two Powertronix 1.7kVA Toroidal Transformers for sale.

I purchased these from the manufacturer (new) in 2004 and never used them. The picture shows a DVD for reference. Please see the other picture for spec details, I'll summarize here:
Prim x2: 115V, 50/60Hz, 1806VA
Sec 1: 20V, 10A
Sec 2: 118V, 13A

Diameter: 7.3", Height: 4.1", Weight: 28.6 lb.

Mounting: Center potted with a thru hole and provided rubber washer

Thermal switch built in one secondary winding.
I have 2 of these for sale, but only one of the rubber washers (see picture).

I got them at a discount from the manufacturer for $50 each in 2004. I really have no idea what they are worth today. Make me an offer on one or both. PMs and email are OK.

Each fits nicely into a USPS Large flat rate priority mail box. I've never shipped outside the US, so if you would like me too, you'll need to walk me through it.

I will charge actual cost for shipping plus paypal fees.

The voltages seem very unattractive for audio purpose.

Down converter 240 to 120??

Just as a thought- the 118v winding could be used with a voltage doubler, to create about 3 amps (!) at 300v DC. Or, 6 amps at 150VDC with a bridge rectifier.

Or, just use the 118v winding as the PRIMARY, on 120v. It's a toroid- there should be no problem with that. Then you'd have two about 113v secondaries and a 19.5v secondary. You could then easily create a 230v CT winding- with a bridge rectifier, that'd produce about + and - 145v DC. at about 2.5 amps per rail.

Talk about one hell of an OTL tube amp power supply...

They'd make isolation transformers, being as large as they are. Feed the 118V secondary with mains, accept some stepdown (to 115) and have a pair of individually isolated supplies. Terminate the other secondary with an RC network.

Only problem is noise isolation will be poor, though the terminated secondary, used right, could help with that.

I'll offer $100 plus shipping for the pair, to be used in this way.

badman -- PM sent

If badman doesn't want both, I'd purchase one.

RKH: Sorry, my use as iso trannies will require both- it's a big rig.

rif- Payment sent! I'm trusting you've shipped heavy items like these before? The box will certainly need some reinforcement and a spacer to keep the leadout assemblies from getting crushed.

Thank you all for your interest, both are now sold.

And safely delivered- thank you for the good packing job. Kind of small though, aren't they? ;)
