One more item for sale - a kit of sorts. I'm selling my in-progress build of the Loesch 417A circuit using a third-party PCB. I just don't have time for this project, I have two other designs on the bench, and I'm in the middle of a move so I'm packing everything up and decided to put this one up for sale.
Sale is for the PCB set for the Loesch 417A 6GK5 5687/6922 circuit. This is a great circuit board for the all-tube 417A phono preamp circuit first published in Sound Practices. The circuit is pretty stock, and the PCB is VERY high quality with plated through holes, and heavy traces. Each channel is fully dual mono with a PCB for each signal channel plus mono power supply PCBs. The boards have on-board filament regulators, if you want to use them, or can be set up for outboard DC filament supplies. The boards also have room for film capacitors and high-quality output capacitors unlike most PCBs. Really nice! In addition to the dual-mono PCBs, the boards have been stuffed, and a chassis is included. I used high-quality matched parts (every critical part matched across channels with a B&K LCR meter to several digits). Plate resistors are Mills 12 watt and 5 watt, grid stoppers are Allen Bradley carbon comp. The cathode resistor on the 417A is a Vishay. Couplers are the humble, but very good sounding Sprague Orange Drop 716P with copper leads. Output cap is a big RelCap. The chassis included is all aluminum, with a 1/4" thick aluminum faceplate. Nothing drilled save the IEC socket punched (which fits the Cinch Jones connector) so you can set the preamp as a phono-only or a phono + line stage. I'm also including some extra parts, standoffs, terminals, and the Cinch-Jones connectors necessary to implement an output power supply with umbilical. I will email scans of the schematic and layout details for the PCBs, plus some other schematics you'll find useful. I sold the boards alone at $100 per stereo set. I'm asking $200 obo for this 'kit'. Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
