Looks like a good deal for someone. I like the aesthetics of these amps better than the "commercial" ones.

I remember you were quite happy with them. What are you replacing them with and why?

Thomas B 30th September 2003 12:12 PM

I am still happy with them, but I am moving into multichannel audio.

Well, buy two more Amp-1's then :)

I would rather suggest upgrading with few pairs of monoblocks;)

Problem is my current gainclones wont drive my Apogee Stage ribbonspeakers that I plan to use as front speakers. I have briefly tested this. Really awesome monoblocks, Peter. You think they are up to it?

mFinalHeaven 30th September 2003 01:57 PM

Holy crap, those are some nice looking amps you guys got there. I haven't been keeping track of the chip amp forum much. WOW!! Can you guys tell me where you guys get the parts to make the case so nice like that or is it in some thread or link somewhere. thanks.

Peter Daniel 30th September 2003 01:59 PM

I'm afraid that if stereo amps can't drive Apogees, the monoblocks will face the same problem. Technically, monoblocks are the same amps, just the envelope is pushed further, by exploring different aspects of chassis design and integrating PS, which IMO is a better thing, if done properly.

Peter,

Great looking amps. I wonder if yoo have tried putting the filter caps and bridge on the other side of the center shield ? It might make it even quieter. It was a great idea to have the ac in at one end and the audio in/outs at the other.

Regards,
Jam
