HI! New to the forum. Basically a shade-tree, back-woods, audio geek!
Building an old school system. Sold my LP gear years ago Started-out planning to use JL Slash amps, and just didn't get motivated to finish. Purchased JL 300/2 to run a MBQ PCE-216 2ohm add-a-woofer system, and never finished. Now, I am back into the project. Started checking around, and heard the buzz about LP/Blues. Wow, that's my kind of equipment. I had two systems in my teens/20's. One in a '85 Supra, and the other in a '98 Silverado. Both were LP/Quart/Kicker. Loved both systems. Once I started designing my new system, I realized I was probably headed in the wrong direction. Flipping-over the JL amp to see China just don't cut it for me. I don't care if it is a fantastic piece, it's not going in my system. So I botched the whole 2ohm idea, and may be planning an active/semi-active system. All boils down to what I can find. Currently I have acquired a beautiful white LP 2202iq, 4253iq, 452i, and a 652iq. May sell some, may use some. The design changes every time I get a new piece of gear. Planned speakers that I have possession of are all brand new. MBQ PTE-25's(x2), PWE-160's(x4), and RWC-254(x2). This will be my first time to use Quart woofers, but the TSP was perfect for the application. And, they are NIB from the Quart Mobile era. Wanted PWD-254's, but couldn't find them. Found (6) RWC-254's close to home. Stunning build quality! Planned HU is not out yet. Pioneer DEH-80PRS. Now to the point of the matter. I need some amps. Currently, I am thinking along the lines of a LP 1752, 3002, or (2)1001sw for my subs. Anybody know of anything? |

Use eBay, it's the closest you will find these for a reasonable price. There's new listings weekly.

The 2202's are very nice but for subwoofer duty get a 5002 or even a 3002, just be prepare to spend atleast 400 bucks for one of those.
My favorite is the 2502IQ I had 5 of them all modded at one time. That amp can do it all and sound good at it. |

Back in the day, if someone was selling a 2502, it was broke. Today, same thing. Now I may be wrong, but that's what I remember. And, that is what I have seen listed. Dead 2502's.
I am grabbing them as they come-up on ebay, and currently watching/communicating with the 3002 seller. I have received some decent amps. Currently, I am planning my 2202iq for the high-end. I have owned two in the past, and used them on subs. Kicker Comp 12 pair in the early 90's, and a single Solo-Baric 12 in the late 90's. Both worked great. Not building a comp/show system. It's stealth inside a double-cab Taco. .8cu ft sealed. Thanks for the replies! |
