I have two Yamaha B-1 amplifiers plus a UC-1 front end. One of the power amps is heavily modified, the other is bone stock but has one channel dead. Use it for an 80# donor or a centre channel, throw down the battlement to crush your attacker... whatever.
So, the modified unit: All caps replaced with high end units, especially the coupling caps. All unnecessary paths eliminated (i.e. the five binding posts and wiring to the UC-1/ gain knobs). Protective relays replaced and wired in parallel. All internal wiring replaced with 99.99% silver heavy gauge. Output binding posts replaced with rhodium/silver units, and the list goes on and on. Cant even get the bottom plate bolted back on without standoffs to clear the coupling caps.
Very likely the best sounding B1 on the planet. Full Stop.
The stock unit: Um, all stock, one dead channel (right), very heavy, black, silver trim, knobs, etc. Was a glorious sounding unit until a certain power resistor got too hot, and caps dried out... Oh well it's not like you can't find any more 2SK77s, LOL... crying.
Seriously, my heart sank when my 2nd unit died. No matter the amount of pleading to an untold quantity of Yamaha service centres (including Japan), the door was shut. No more 2SK77.
If you are reading this and know what a B-1 is, you know how rare these things are and realize you have never seen an advert with two units + a UC-1. Ever. You also realize that $500 for a pair of 2SK77 is very reasonable and very desirable.
I live in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver, BC and _only_ pickup is desirable. So you either come get them or you send someone to come get them. Bring cash. I will not pack, crate, move, shift, nudge, prod, or even look hard at these things... they are just way to heavy./ Hope that is clear, and no offence to the lucid crowd.
Will send actual pics of units upon request.
Will consider trades.
OK, the fine print:
PS. This is a private sale, used items, cash, no shipping to the north pole, Nigeria, Somalia, Italy, no MO's, Buffalo Nickels, Corinthian Seashells, out of town and my nanny will send her handmaiden with the shipping specialist; do you know how stupid pathetic scam ridden that sounds and your context sucks check your participles do you rally weed the whole post or just brain dead after hearing that everyone in north america and europe have way too00 much money and are just asking to be fleeced so take your scams down the road, walk away, stick it and rotate on my run-on atrocious grammar rant! 😛 (god that felt good!)
