Default Wanted: Small Receiver

I'm looking for a little receiver for my kitchen. I'd really like a small tube unit, but most are out of my price-range. I also don't have the equipment to align tuners, but I'm not opposed to replacing a few caps or cleaning controls. I'd entertain the idea of fairly new shelf-system-type stuff. I'm open to older SS, especially Advent, NAD, etc, but it would have to be in good electrical shape. I don't particularly enjoy PCBs and difficult-to-find transistors. Basically: not too big, not too expensive, must have FM and an aux input in one box and sound decent. 120V, overseas shipping is probably cost prohibitive.

Let me know if you've got anything. I'd be thrilled if you are looking for speakers, but I can pay you however you wish.

Not at all what you are looking for but worth a shot. I have one of these Retro MIDLAND 19-325 HiFi Solid State stereo amplifier | eBay

It's in much better shape than the one pictured, works beautifully and is small. If you had a way to pull in your stations and could use this amp, it's yours (small thanks for all you do on this site). Just let me know and I'll get it out to you asap.

I REALLY appreciate the offer, but I need it to have a tuner. My kitchen is jam packed!

No problem.....wish I had what you needed. I've had my eyes out for a matching tuner for this unit for a year or so with no luck.....maybe some day!

Hi Paul,

Just out of curiosity, what kind of speakers are you putting in your kitchen?

Since you mentioned it...

I have an Advent 300 receiver

but

it is a 12V model. Do I need to get it out and test if it works?

Not sure what your budget is.
I have a nice condition Pioneer SX-990 controls cleaned and tested. FM works great and all the other inputs. It's about 28Watts/channel 8 ohms. Walnut veneer wood case.
Has one set of speaker plugs (hook wires to them, plug in back) it's older but works great. I can supply some pics if you like. These go for $70-130 on the bay, I'm looking to get $65 + ship. Let me know.

D: I don't have a trip planned.
Roger: It'll depend. Right now, I've got a lousy boombox. I'm planning to either use a pair of small-ish BetsyK boxes or a pair of tiny Realistic boxes that currently house a pair of old Alnico FE103s (or 10F3s, I don't remember exactly).

Ed: that sounds really interesting. It'd depend on what you want for it and how well it works, but I love the idea.

John M: I just google imaged that. It looks full-sized, which isn't perfect for me. That is an awesome price though.

I must dig it out to determine the condition.
