Default Toroid Inductor Service

I am thinking about starting to wind toriodial inductors for a small time side business.
I figure I can wind from .2mh to 20mh +- 3% on FT240 size toroids in 12 to 18 awg.
Would anybody be interested in purchasing any?
If not I will just build for myself.
Toroids seem to be great for their low DCR and an FT240 toroid should be very difficult to saturate.
Let me know.

Thanks

I would suggest posting over @ Parts Express "Tech Talk" to increase your exposure.

Can you provide a description of "FT240" and some representative pricing?

How about those R cores instead? Toroids are plentiful here in the states.
I don,t know of any R core manfactured here. Overseas shipping is ridculous on these, every one of them.
Start there first and your efforts will be rewarded for these low noise trannies.
I don,t know where the "R"designation got started. They resemble an D or oval O in looks actually.

Regards
David

Ed,

In singles quantity I would expect a rough range of $30-$55 depending on the gauge and values needed.
I'm currently looking into an L meter that would give me closer to +-1% tolerances.

I'm still in the planning stages and will decide how crazy to get depending on the response here.
Everybody at DIY Audio has been very helpful and I'd like to give back.

I remember reading it's coming from the fact they have a "Rectangular" Core

I would buy a pair of 2.2uH (that's micro Henry) inductors made of 14awg or thicker wire with radial leads ~22mm apart right now, if you can make them.

When you listed .2 to 20 mh range I am assuming you are intended these for
audio use or power supply filtering. Well if you look at the speck sheet you
will see that the cores are intended to be used in the mhz range and won't
work for low frequencies the core would saturate at verry verry low power.

Woody,

I did notice that and I am currently looking for a good source of ferrous powder torroids for proper application.
The FT240 is a reference of size at this point.

Thanks
