The horns have the less common detachable 2" throat extensions, enabling you to upgrade/swap between a high quality cone driver like the LE5-2 (top choice) or a 1", 1 3/8" or 2" compression driver. If you want to use a compression driver smaller than 2", metal conical adapters are always available on ebay. This is the same horn used in the Edgarhorn Slimline. If you use it with the alnico LE5-2, be prepared for a very detailed and relaxed presentation from 400-10KHz at 105db/w. According to Dr. Edgar, the more controlled directivity of his rectangular tractrix is an advantage over the less controlled directivity of his round tractrix in smaller rooms and nearfield listening, and sounds almost identical to his round tractrix horns overall. |
