I noticed that a few days ago someone sent you a link to the service manual. Did that tell you the transformer's voltage and current rating? You don't need an exact replacement. You just need a transformer which matches the voltage, and has equal or higher power rating. If you decide to replace with a different transformer, but don't know how to hook up a transformer, you can ask for help in any of the Amplifier forums.

I've seen Sony transformers for sale on eBay, if you know the Sony part number. They're usually Bando make.

paul.42 unless the xfmr is obviously toast,
I have a Bando pwr xfmr from a salvaged Pioneer home theatre receiver. I removed the small AC line pcb (2 pins) and found underneath it, the bobbin actually has three pins - two of which connect to a primary thermal fuse. I can see the fuse lead-in but it's buried in the bobbin and varnish. You can use an ohmmeter to check the fuse. Another thing I found common is cold solder joints on the mag wire/bobbin connections, so look for that. |

Hello
I have several SS power transformer, mostly from home theater amplifier. Like JVC,Yamaha, etc holding dust. You have to know the voltage rating min. to get help. I have a Sony GA7ES home theater receiver works but the face plate messed up I purchase $50. I'm willing to take the transformer out for the same price. Again you have to found out the V & VA rating... Greetings gabor |
