Hello,

I recently bought a dead Rega Apollo off someone who was modding it. I think I have most of the issues sorted except it kept telling me NO DISC. The previous owner had replaced the laser assembly and I bought another Sanyo transport complete to replace (yes, I unshorted the LD pads to enable the diode) but no luck. I have verified that the transport works in another player that uses the same transport.

Is this chip the next logical part to replace? I notice also that the hall effect sensor on the top lid did not give any state changes when the lid was opened so I assume that is bad too. But I am not sure that affects the NO DISC error.

Please advise and if this part is still available.

TIA

The chip controls a lot of functions, so it would be worth to try it out. Better would be if you can find somebody with a working Rega and use the working laser assembly to test the rest of your cd player. This because you don't use a orginal assembly. When the chip broke down in my player it only displayed "Rega Apollo", everything else did not respond. Apart from the assembly the hall sensor should work, it goes straight to the mainboard. I don't know how the mainboard would react with an uncompatible laser assembly . It should say "door open", with a disc(lid closed) "initialising". If the sensorreadings go straight to the central chip it could be worth a try to exchange it.

Hi, I think don't have an option to test my transports on any other Apollos. On the observation that both transports (the one I got with the player and the one I bought) worked on another player with same transport I have to assume the lasers work too. So let'w work out something so I can buy and try this chip out. Please PM me. Thanks!
