For sale are a pair of ribbons that, due to housing constraints, I will likely never be able to use. These are a pair of "real" ribbon transducers from some Apogee ribbon speakers - I'm not sure which, but they have 46" long aluminum-on-mylar ribbons surrounded by a rather large number of really big magnets. When functional, they're purported to present roughly a 2-ohm load.
These ribbons are complete, but could use a bit of TLC. The conductive glue used in a few places for electrical seems to be failing; while the ribbons are 100% complete and mechanically solid, they need a bit of work before being used. That said, if you're familiar with ribbons (I'm not,) all you'll need is $15 in conductive glue and a screwdriver to have some really nice ribbons. I'm asking $150 for the pair, picked up from Madison, WI. I'll also consider trades (or trades + cash) for a socket 775 quad-core CPU or a nice plate amp, or maybe some high-end headphones. ![]()
