Finally! Ok, FYI...I'm not trying to be competitive with pricing here folks. I just want to give everyone a shot at getting a hold of these conductors and having some fun with them. I do want to cover all expenses though so If something is unreasonable...LET ME KNOW! ![]() The copper or silver wire will be sold as shown in the thread pics (with the Teflon jacket...red for copper...blue for silver.) I haven't shown you guys how to wind the wires together for a hybrid combination...so I will do that today. You have to make a little contraption that, when attached to a drill, will make a perfect, even wind. Heck, you could even be as precise as you want with the "tightness" of the winds. It depends on how you want to implement your ideas. I will also throw in some texflex sheathing so you can wrap these guys up for protection against unwinding of the foil tape, or for jacketing purposes(as mentioned and shown in the thread.) That's IF you are choosing to make my design Shipping should be very cheap, after all its just wire. Overseas may be slightly more expensive, but nothing unreasonable. Of course, you could specify any type of shipping that suits you and I will figure out the cost. Payments via paypal would be the easiest I guess. But, I want to give everyone the opportunity if they cannot do paypal. So, a money order, or personal check is fine once it clears. Hell, you could even send cash...IF YOU DARE! ![]() The copper is significantly cheaper to buy from the manufacturer than the silver. So, I will reflect that in the prices. You will need 2 runs to make RCA's and 3 runs to make XLR's. If you want to wind a hybrid configuration, then yo will need 2 wires per run. You could also do this: 2 wires (Cu/Ag) for positive, and one wire (Cu/Ag) for negative. ANY COMBINATION IS POSSIBLE. The little trick I have for winding the wires together will allow for up to three wires to be wound together as one. 1M copper single run = $8.25 (the .25 is to cover paypal fees. If you are sending money other ways, leave the .25 out) 1M silver single run = $12.25 So, for a 1M single wire cable construction...you would spend anywhere from 16.50 (single Cu/Cu), 20.50 (single Cu/Ag), 41.00 (2 wire Cu/Cu, 2 wire Ag/Ag), and so on. I think this is reasonable. I approximate I'm making a whopping 1-2 dollars in profit here folks. Just leave a reply in this thread as to the amounts you want AND how you want it shipped. You could then private message me (NO BOOTY CALLS!) with the address info etc. Cheers peeps. |

Check out the thread in the construction tips section. But here is some info anyway, 28 gauge solid core (one strand) UPOCC wire (Ultra pure ohno continuous cast) in silver or copper formulations. It is jacketed in teflon. You could strip the teflon off and use it in the way described in my thread. CAREFULLY though. If you ponch the teflon too much, the wire will break when trying to slip the teflon off. The wire is manufactured by SLOWLY drawing the wire, which therefore increases the crystal size of the material (by 100X) of regularly drawn material. This allows for better propagation of electrons due to significant decrease in junctions between crystals. The analogy would be something similar to nerve cell conduction, or neurotransmitter synaptic gaps. On a similar (completely different note)...lol....I strongly believe that many technologies that have been emerging for the last 50 years or so are successfully because they are evolving to mimic biological processes. For example, if you juxtapose the way neurological processes function in the body...along with say, network infrastructure of an organization or Co., they not only work in similar function..but one is being designed and continuously improving simply because it is becoming a more streamlined process. Efficiency vs. complexity of a system do not always have a directly proportional relationship. Some of the best achievements of mankind are either directly (or indirectly via succession of architecture) modeled similarly to the physical morphology of human anatomy. It's a simple concept to grasp...but difficult to see. Other examples include "Fractals". Many advances in structural sciences are succeeding due to their resemblance and function of studied natural phenomenon. Its crazy. |
