The DACT is a good choice.... Why don't you take that??
You could also take a look at these: Goldpoint Level Controls
Basically the same idea, but maybe at a lower price.
Lats buyt not least.... Penny&Giles have some real nice volume potmeters. Bu my guess is, that they cost way more than the attenuators.

These attenuators look nice. Does anybody use their attenuators with good results? Any feedback?

I tried to order from them, they never delivered and still won't respond to my inquiries as to where the 24 attenuators are that I ordered. I wouldn't call that a good result.
these have been going for between $160 and $190 - 33 Step 100K Stereo Volume Control tube Preamplifier - eBay (item 150413295482 end time Feb-20-10 17:24:10 PST)
They were available, if only you'd posted their link sooner -

Goldpoint Mini-V stereo stepped is essentially the same as the DACT CT2 but easier to use with the labeled solder holes instead of pins. I use a 20K in a project box and it works great. Highly recommended.
For an assembled passive volume control of good quality, take a look at Richard Lee Audio. High quality shunt to ground design using Caddock resistors.
