Default FS: Custom 6P1P Amplifier

Completely hand-built by myself, mostly my design (with much help from people on this and other forums). Meticulous point to point wiring. Impeccable sound, absolutely zero hum, noise, or buzz. Black background no matter what position the volume knob. 10M45S constant current sources for each tube. Using the highly regarded Z565 output transformers, an Alps Blue Velvet potentiometer, and lab-grade shielded signal cable. Tube complements are a 5V4 rectifier (5AR4 can be used also), military-grade 5965 dual triodes for the input/phase splitter
stage, and military-grade 6P1P-EV tubes. I'll include a spare quad of these.

You get what you pay for. This is probably my 8th amplifier and I have yet to disappoint given the price I charge.

$450 shipped, price negotiable.

I really enjoy seeing your amps. I hope you don't have to negotiate much, $450 seems like a steal! Makes a fella' question whether it is worth it to build their own! Did you build that chassis? That is a mighty looking choke. Is this one choke input (I remember you doing choke input in the past)? Nice work, and good luck with the sale.

I used a Hammond aluminum project box with custom wood (forget which kind) oiled in 3 coats and sealed with urethane. There is a considerable aluminum bar running horizontally for structural support, to which the 10M45S constant current sources are bolted. The black metal grills which permit ventilation of the power tubes were cut from ATX computer power supplies, sanded, painted, and then bolted.

Once I get this amp back (lending it to a friend), I will post wiring shots

If you were in Australia, I would almost definitely take that. Alas, shipping is a rather sizable kick in the teeth! Bump for an excellent deal.

Hah thanks. That is very true. I wonder if it would be more than to Hawaii? I once packed up and shipped a SET amp to a client in Honolulu for between $50 and $60, which wasn't too unreasonable all things considered. Needless to say, the amp made it unscathed

What is the wattage or this unit? Is it common ground? Where are you located?

Hi, the amp is about 12 watts per channel. What do you mean by common ground? It has a grounded 3-prong IEC socket. The signal ground, PSU and chassis all connect to the main ground of this socket. I've never had problems with hum with this amplifier.

Currently I'm in upstate New York.
