Default FS: Hammond Model G amplifiers

2 pair Hammond Model G amplifiers (with tubes). These were uses for driving field coil speakers but can be modified for audio amplifier use. Unfortunately for me, the need for cash at the moment is greater than my desire to get these up and running.

I have spoke with Jef from Abraxas Audio about these a year or so ago now and this is what he had to say...

"Most of the mod I did on mine involved updating components, and tighter tolerances.
I also upgraded the power supply without trying to over-kill. Keep it simple.
I added a dual circuit so I could run it as a triode connected output stage if I felt the mood.
Turns out I like the 6V6 as a pentode anyway. Don't understand why we don't hear more
of this nice sounding tube.

Lots of good things to say about these nice sounding output trannys as well.
It's all there, but laid back and easy to listen to forever.
It feels more like you get the inner workings of the sound, rather than an in-your-face kinda thing"

I want to thank Jef for providing his thoughts an these amplifiers and hope you don't mind me passing along your response to others.

Tube compliment:

4 - 6V6
2 - 6J5
1 - 5U4G

$250 / pair plus shipping

I would be happy to provide more detailed photos and schematic for those interested.

Thanks, RC

Default Hammond G 3 amplifiers

I saw you post and I have a pair of these as wellas a pair of later units that use a 6SN7 instead of 2 6J5's. I am trying to reverse engineer a schematic. These will obviously need a phase inverter section added.

Where did you get the schematic for these?

Thanks

Hi Bruce,
I got the schematic from a individual that was working with Abraxas and going to have Jef do the work on his G's. I don't recall his name off the top of my head. I had a laptop meltdown mid last week and the doc was stored on my hard drive. I think I still have the email that contains that doc.. I will go look for it now and post it if that would help???

I found it but the system doesn't seem to want to let me upload it (taking forever).

Maybe the file is too large.

If you would like to check it out to compare notes, just send me a PM with your email and I will forward it to you that way.

Not to worry, my laptop meltdown was not virus related or anything. Apparently computers don't care for it much if dropped on the floor. Who'd a thunk it

RC

I see it uploaded after all!

RC,
You got the schematic from me, unfortunately after 2 and half years I still have not got my amps back from Abraxas Audio.

Ka, is that you? I found your original email after posting.

What the heck happened to your amps?
