I am looking for a decent tripath style amp. Something along the lines of a 41hz.com Amp6, Sonic T-amp, Lepai, etc.
Nothing spectacular, just want to experiment for now. An included enclosure would be nice. A complete unit would be perfect. |

Have you seen the Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2 battery-powered amp?
I built a clone. The only difference is the input capacitors are polypropylene instead of PIO, and the output filter is a little less robust. Everything else is the same -- the Tripath chipset, the SMD stepped-attenuator, battery power, 30 watts x2 at .007% THD. It is housed in an all-wood cigar box and includes an automatic charger and a battery box with 2x 4.5ah 12v SLA batteries for 24v power. It will play for over 12 hours continuously before it needs a charge. It sounds incredible, it is far superior to the boutique-parts Gainclone I built. I could easily build you one. PM me if you want pics and a price. -Ted Wilson, Cigar Box Audio |

Pics or you lying!!
![]() just kidding. I am very interested in your amplifier. Can you give some more details about chip used and general spec? I would be interested in a kit if the price is not too high. Thanks, Steve Last edited by aquapiranha; 4th October 2009 at 11:13 AM. |

the amp can be config 100w to 300w , I use with 40Vdc at 180w
why so big watt ? becouse sound better ! es. on vinyl (cd more ) there is up to 10db of peak dinamic , db is log unit ,for 3db double the watt ,ie if you ear at 10w ,with 10db of peak the amp must put out 100w of peak !!!

Cigar Box Audio "WINECLONE" Kit Forget noisy AC-to-DC conversion and filtering, this is the ultimate in sound quality from a Tripath amp. This isn't your average TA2022, 2024 or 2020. It uses the same TK2050 3-chip set as the Red Wine Audio's Signature 30.2. In fact, the entire design concept is a clone of that very amp! At RWA, their amp is $3000 with a volume control. What is the difference between mine and theirs? I don't use expensive PIO input capacitors (I use excellent polypropylenes), my output low-pass filter is slightly less robust, and mine does not have an auto-shut-off system. Thats it. As you can see, everything that really counts is still here: - The Tripath chipset - The dual 5aH sealed-lead-acid 12v batteries for a 24v system. - An automatic charger that charges the batteries as soon as you turn the system off - Your choice of either WIMA MKP10 input caps, or Aerovox AFPS input caps! - A SMD-Stepped-Attenuator volume control It will play for over 12 hours continuously at full power. Output is 30 watts x2 at 0.007% THD. Theirs is $3000, mine is $600 assembled or $450 as a kit. Please send inquiries to cigarboxaudio@gmail.com -Ted Wilson, Cigar Box Audio Just for reference, it kills my beloved Gainclone with boutique and overspec'd parts ![]() KIT: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PROTOTYPE: ![]() ![]() ![]()
