Up for sale is a pair of Beyma CP-21F slot tweeters (made in Valencia ~ Spain), for $180USD plus shipping. They are rated at 8 ohm impedence and around 99dB efficiency. They replicate the famous JBL 2405H slot tweeters, some prefer the Beyma over the JBLs because the Beymas have more life and vivacity. I haven't heard the JBL version, but the Beymas sound very nice to my ears.
I used the Beymas in one of my Edgar Horn set-ups and it worked very well. With high efficiency speakers like the Edgars normal dome tweeters and even the ribbon types just don't seem to keep up with the acoustic power of the horns. You need something like the Beyma to project the treble more strongly. The Beymas are very solidly built with thick billets of alluminium and have huge magnets (in fact they seem to be 'all magnet' in appearance). They would suit any high efficiency speaker such as Fostex/Lowther/Tannoys etc. and could be used as a supertweeter on any speaker. These tweeters are very enjoyable and have a certain 'jump factor' over normal designs, that is, they jump out into the room and sound lush and exciting. They are in perfect working condition and have never been repaired or modified. I can ship them Worldwide at the buyer's cost. Regards, Steve M. |
