Default 0.5pf mica caps needed

Hey guys anyone have some 0.05pf caps, silver mica would be nice. I have tried all my supply people and can only get 1pf. It is for a counterpoint sa-1000 and lord knows you don't want to make that thing any more angry than it already is.

Yeah it is .5pf, you know Mr. elliot like to use hard to find stuff . are you sure the series pair would half the capacitance?, never tried that before with caps.

Use a piston trimmer, or a "gimmick" cap like ZM suggested.

But seriously.... 0.5pF is a non-issue below UHF/microwaves.

Cheers!

It's actually called a "gimmick" -- an old trick for tuning a crystal oscillator -- you can use vinyl coated wire, teflon not necessary.

In the HF class I took in college many years ago, we made small value caps with double side plated PCB material. Seemed to work pretty well. The teacher was an Engineering Tech on Microwave Radar during WWII.

Peace,

Dave
