Default Power Transformers; 175VA, 36VCT at 4.8A

As I was working in the trailer today packing a function-generator for someone, I came across some neat audio-project parts that I'd forgotten I had....

High quality 175VA power-transformers made by MCI Transformers in Babylon NY.

They make a very useful output of about +/- 24 vdc bipolar, at no-load and nominal line input.

Rated 36VCT at 4.8A continuous-duty, and come with dual 115/230 primaries.

Note: it's not just center-tapped, it's two separate windings (4 terminals); so you can easily parallel the secondaries instead, for almost 10 amps at 18vac.....i.e. about 7 amps continuous DC at 24vdc output.

It weighs about 6 pounds, and features easy 'quick-connect' wiring.

This is a current product, part# 4-49-8036, with full specs at MCI's website: http://www.mcitransformer.com/i_4-49.html

Another feature nice for audio: "MCI's split bobbin and non-concentric winding provide better insulation and high signal-isolation, thus eliminating the need for electrostatic shielding."

I think I have about half a dozen of these left....they're all brand new, never used, still in factory-wrapping, as you can see in the pic.....but have been in storage for a few years, which affects the surface-finish a little.

Full set of pictures at: http://www.oregonstone.com/TR-MCI-175va.html

I believe these are currently around $40 in singles from the factory.

I'll sell a single piece for $19, or a pair for $33, plus shipping.

And none of those BS extra 'handling' fees like on ePay either....lol....

I am sorry, but I cannot ship out of the US.

ps; if you want all six, I'd take $90 for the lot.

thanks,

Richard

Hi Dozer,

For members reading this, it would be perfect for a LM1875 application and with 175VA a stereo bridge application. I'm listening at the 1875 as I write this What a nice sounding IC

Take care,
Eric

Default SOLD SOLD...all gone; MOD: please mark thread SOLD

hi folks,

All the MCI transformers are gone now.

Thanks, and I hope they power lots of good music from your projects for you!

Richard

ps; I just found a pair of smaller units today....same 36vct, but 100VA...which I'll start a new thread for when I get a pic taken.

pps; Mods....for some reason, I can't seem to edit my thread-opening post, so I couldn't change the title to say 'SOLD'....save people from wasting time reading the whole thread....so if you could do that for me, I'd appreciate it.
