Stax headphone sockets?
Hi fellow DIYers,

I'm looking for source of sockets for headphone amps, to plug in Stax electrostatic headphones.

Any suggestions?

I believe that Allied Electronics carries them. I'll try to track down the part numbers but you might see what Google turns up for you.

maybe on
Dr. Kevin Gilmore uses these sockets
for his amps also .

Thank you!

What sockets use Koss and Sennheiser, are they different?
And what are differences between bias voltages?

I am new in this field, my friend from Australia asked to develop an universal driver for him...

The Koss plugs and sockets are not available anywhere to the best of my knowledge, ditto the Sennheiser stuff.

As far as power requirements goes you've got a lot of research to do there with little in the way of hard and fast answers.

Hi Wavebourn ,

look at headwize (see the amps from Kevin Gilmore)
he explains the things there !

Yes, Kevin's articles are the best sources of information so far. He writes that he used Amphenol microphone sockets he bought a bag of about 30 years ago.
Another person on forum suggests WPI - 78-S6S - Allied Electronics as compatible with Stax, but for me they look like vintage tube sockets!

I think I will go with my own proprietary sockets and adapters. Probably some Russian military ones would look nice, like a tank. ;)

One more question: what max DC bias is allowed between stators?
