The amplifier (see attached photo) is the transition year model. Half the year was the tiltback style- and the other half of the year was the less-desirable taller model.
The amplifier was sold to me by a blues guitarist who was part of the New Orleans music scene in the late 1960's. The amplifier sat in the guy's garage for some 25 years before it ended-up in my hands. When I got the amplifier, the speaker cabinet was absolutely shot because it sat in a flooded garage. I salvaged and restored as much hardware as I could, but ended up with an emblem, a speaker jack, and piggyback parts. The cabinet is an exact reproduction built by me from original measurements. The head cabinet, however, is original. I made sure that the amplifier was returned to bone-stock specs (parts values) in order to retain the original sound. Anyway, email me if you're interested. |

I'm interested,
Tell me more about it. I think I could use it at my Middle School for band special projects. ; ) Regards, SyncT |

The amplifier is 40 Watts and all-tube (with the exception of solid-state rectifiers.) The tube complement is 2*6l6gc, 3*12ax7a, and 1*12at7.
The amplifier has two channels: normal and tremolo. I decided not to recone the destroyed original speakers- and instead, used two 10" Bassman Alnico Reissues (the sound is a bit richer and less cutting.) The head can be removed by the thumbscrews on top of the speaker cabinet. The reason it is attached is so that the amplifier can be tilted back via chrome legs. It was played for about ten straight hours by a professional guitarist- and he confirmed that the amplifier has "that tone" that all guitarists crave. The original parts still left are: The chassis, transformers, the lamp holder, tremolo jack, head cabinet, emblems, speaker jack and wiring, metal rear control panel, and most screws. What was damaged beyond repair was replaced with genuine Fender reissue parts (with the exception of the speaker cabinet.) The amplifier and speaker are covered with original-style tolex (vinyl)- and the grill-cloth is the closest to the original that I can find. The original grill cloth was spray-painted black- and it was impossible to remove. All of the electronics were replaced with modern equivalents except for the signal path where I used NOS carbon resistors. I will not include in the sale the emblem on the speaker cabinet due to the fact that it was built by me and not Fender (although it is an exact-match to the original.) However, I don't want to even come close to copyright infringement. Anyway, you can email me if you are still interested. |
