This pair of identical woofers should include a spec sheet or specs should be available somewhere on the web.
Absolutely, they must have DUAL VOICE COILS! Diameter can be no larger than 8 inch. I'd prefer 8 inch, but might consider somewhat smaller. Specs need to fit in the following range: 0.2 < Qts < 0.3, Qts with voice coils connected in parallel fs < 31 Hz upper limit of frequency response = 2 kHz The newer the better, of course, but I'll take something older if still in good condition. Seems as if I'm about 10 years late in looking for a woofer like this. I'm not dreaming that this type of woofer has been manufactured? Oh, well. Anyone living in the 48 United States (or possibly Canada) who has a pair of woofers like this that they are willing to part with, please write pronto! -Pete |

Car woofers and subs are often available with dual VC:
http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage....ctGroup_ID=846 I did not check the specs (other than DVC), but a couple of these might work for your needs. HTH Stuart |

Thanks to Moondog55 and Stuart for the advice.
Unfortunately Qts for the Audio Pipe 8 inch DVC subwoofer isn't given. Also power handling of 300W is much greater than I need- I plan to build a system for home listening. All of the DVC woofers at Parts Express have Qts (with voice coils connected in parallel) equal to 0.4 or greater. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that woofers for car audio generally won't have a Qts of about 0.25. The closest current woofer matching what I need that I found is 10 inch diameter. This is a Pioneer DVC woofer at MCM Electronics. In the back of my mind also is the thought that drivers by Pioneer are for the most part not highly regarded. -Pete |

User "IMStoopid" had used Peerless 831858, poly, 8inch, dual 8+8ohm VC, for sale a bit ago.
Total Qts listed as 0.39. I bought two of the four available. This past monday I received a pair of the woofers from IMSTOOPID. These woofers are great! I wonder why Peerless discontinued making it.
If anyone has some unused woofers very similar to this Peerless 831858, I could probably use a few more pairs. -Pete |
