G'Day guys and girls,
I am the happy owner of a set of Lynn Olson Ariel speakers. They are the Mk 6 version with drivers and crossover parts from North Creek (value set). Design discussion by Lynn is here http://www.nutshellhifi.com/Ariel.html#index I have also built the matching bass units described under"good bass" in the Ariel site. When I built these, I was a single man and did not have to worry about what anybody else thought about how much space they took up or what they looked like. I have just purchased an apartment with my girlfriend and we will be moving in together. Unfortunately there is not quite enough room in the living area of the apartment for the Ariels, and they have to go. Fortunately though, this does allow me to start another speaker project! Also included is an active crossover. At this stage it is in a black painted MDF box, have not had the time to re-box it. It is an Eliot Sound Products Linkwitz-Riley cct. http://sound.westhost.com/project09.htm I made a thread about construction of this project here Ariel construction You can see exactly what was done to produce these speakers. They are made exactly to the plans with marine grade plywood and MDF covered with a Jarrah veneer. The bass units were constructed from void free construction grade ply with multiple internal braces and covered with 1.5mm Jarrah veneer ply. These babies can play flat out and they sit solid on the floor with no vibrations. Will consider reasonable offers that cover the price of the drivers for the complete set of Ariels/woofer units. As the drivers for the Ariels were not extremely expensive, but there was a LOT of labour and the crossovers have quality components, I would be looking for more than just cost of drivers for the Ariels alone. Oh, almost forgot, pick up only, Mittagong NSW. Once again, a great set of speakers that took a lot of work to build that I would be happy to keep if I wasn't moving. Cheers, Chris Ariel construction |
