I think some might be familiar with my DIY CD player, as listed on this website (follow the link in my sig). I've since decided to disassemble the player and go in the direction of an all-digital setup, and am going to start from scratch as I have time with another DAC for the system. So up for sale is the DAC which was part of the CD player.
This is a Pedja Rogic designed DAC, and his website contains information about how to propagate the board and supply the different regulators. I have propagated all but the SPDIF processor section of the board, as I was connecting the DAC by direct I2S connection from a CD-Pro2M transport, thus rendering this part of the board unnecessary. I had it propagated initially but desoldered the parts, so the section was complete once. The DAC has a couple small areas sanded off at the bottom so it could fit in my overly crowded transport chassis. The components on the board are all top quality, including numerous types of Black Gate capacitors and quality resistors. The DAC is a standard TDA1541a, not of special grade. See pics below. DAC is used and has been built for two years but worked perfectly when removed from the player. This basically only requires a power supply if connected directly to a transport, but if connected externally the SPDIF section would have to be propagated. As is such, I recommend this only be purchased by an experienced DIYer. $325 shipped. |
