FS - Bottlehead Foreplay III

I have a sweet Bottlehead Foreplay III (latest version) with all CD and documentation.

12AU7 x 2 Electro-Harmonix and Hytron OD3 Shunt Gas Regulator tube.

Has upgraded caps and Sweet Whispers Attenuators. Also has nice Black Anodized knobs and extra Raytheon OD3 Regulator Tube.

New is over $400+ shipping.

Bought the preamp a while ago and just loved it. But has way too much gain for my system. Instead of padding the input further, I decided to build a lower gain pre.

I'm interested, but probably don't have enough money- It's a great preamp!

Thanks...it is a great pre...just way too much gain for my UCD400's and Magnepans.

Thought about rewiring the pre to take a lesser gain tube, but decided to build a totally new pre. A 12B4 design.

The 12B4 took a lot of tweaks before it could equal the FPIII in my system. Gain is no longer an issue, but the FPIII sound is hard to beat.

Still don't know if the 12B4 is "better" by much.
