Just a heads up. There's a new woofer coming on the market from Mach5audio called the IXL-18.4. The specs are:
Fs = 15.4Hz Re = 3.2Ohm Qms = 4.87 Qes = 0.39 Qts = 0.36 Vas = 556L Sd = 1029.2cm BL = 15.1 Mms = 228g Cms = 0.37mm SPL = 89.2 Xmax = 22mm Pricing has yet to be set, but I'm willing to bet it'll be affordable considering the other Mach 5 drivers. Personally, I can't wait to build a couple of HT subs with these!!! You can read about it here. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/f...opic=7142&st=0 |

Ugh?
Why on earth would you say that? A lot of persons prefer the foam surround. Some last 20 years. How long are you planning to keep a woofer for? |

I'm not sure what the "icky" refers to. I have a pair of Celestion Ditton 15XR speakers from 1979 that haven't missed a beat yet.

Update. I emailed Mach5Audio about the pricing. The preorder will be a 20 dollar deposit. When the subs come in it'll be 175 U.S. which includes shipping to anywhere in North America. Sounds like a good deal to me. I'm getting 2 of them. Can't wait to install them up in my home theater!!!

= I'm kidding. Not a thing wrong with foam surrounds. I have 2 MJ-18, they have foam suurounds. For the money, these subs are amazing.

Hi,
This woofer looks also promising for a sono-tube application. As I don’t like the normal vented variant with the driver at one end and port at the opposite, I tested a TL variant I don’t remember the design origin of. The tube was 225 cm and seems to work well for this new driver but - 10" less = 2 m even better and more optimal. Driver sag is within rec. limits and for Usd 175 it looks like a bargain. b 1(4) |
