Hello Everyone, My first project is a ht sub, I have 2 older 8" cerwin drivers that I'm going to wire in series and have a 200w cerwin plate amp I'm going use to drive them,

My first problem was that I was unble to get any t/s specs, I talked to Cerwin tech support and they were able to tell me that my drivers handled 150w required 0.75 cu ft per and each needed a 3x8.25" port @ 25 hz resonance

My questions are as follows,

Is there any "general rule" regarding driver and port placement?

Can I use 1 larger port to take the place of the dual 3" ports I require?

P.S. I do not have the equipment to test the drivers so winisd is not really an option

You can use one vent with the same cross-sectional area as two smaller diameter vents. However, I would just make two boxes as it allows you to integrate the sound better. If you make one box you would make it double size and have a shelf between for rigidity anyway, so would still need two vents.

it is an LE8S the D is avail. in winisd, but, according to Cerwin the specs are slightly different

thanks richie, I know 2 would be better for imaging but I have one plate amp, and don't feel the need to buy another, also having subwoofers all over my living room may cause interference....more specifically all the background noise my g/f would make. LOL

Do you know the impedance of the drivers?

You might be able to put a 2nd set of terminals on the boxes, and wire them together as you might if they were in the same box -- just put the amp on one of the boxes or in a separate box and treat them that way, assuming your plate amp will drive them / have enough power at that load.
