thanks people. a lot of great ideas here.

by the time the link to the 15" killer deal appeared, i had already purchased the cheapo 10" DVC. it's rated at 92.7db 2.83V/1m SPL, so i think it shouldn't be the end of the world. if i get +3db from the bandpass box (i'm going to use sonotube), that should be pretty good i think. as a primitive crossover, i'm using the "bass stoppers" from parts express to cut the lows from the soundpads, they're $3 each.

i will give a full write up of my experience with pictures soon enough -- the parts arrive today, i think.
