Default Mysteriously cheap eBay subwoofer driver?

I found this on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-DSW10-10-SUB...QQcmdZViewItem

Is this the same one used in some of Kenwood's subwoofers? Or is it car-audio trash?

It IS OEM, can be good, maybe the customer from the factory went bankrupt? It's worth a try for that price, always good as a test speaker (I kill a lot of them on testing amps...).

Weight is stated at 5.5lbs. Seems REALLY light for a 10" sub. This picture would leave one to expect it to be much heavier.

Maybe it has a plastic magnet!

Or as I've found on Tandy's "realistic" woofers years ago partially plastic "magnet"...

You don't insult our RadioShack fullrange speakers, and we don't drop a cow on your house from orbit.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Yea it could be buyout/clearance stock, I bought 30 12'' woofers a few months ago for $11au each (~$7us) that were clearance stock.

there's a $ 15.99 shipping charge with that.. not all of that would be paid to UPS!

you'd be surprised what it costs to make that speaker. here's how it's done:
CONE: BLACK TREATED CURVED PAPER (cheap Foam surround)
COIL SIZE: 1 1/2" (paper or nomex form)
EFFICIENCY: 89DB (just a number)
IMPEDANCE: 6 OHMS
POWER: 100 WATTS RMS (Sure)
MAGNET DIAMETER: 4 3/4" (that's the OD.. normally, the ID in this case should be 2 1/4" (57mm))
Magnet Height - should normally be 20mm.. this one would be 15 or 17) Do let me know after u buy it, test it, blow it & then break it!
Magnet Grade - Who knew about this one? (magnets come in different grades / strengths - Y20, Y25, Y30, Y35, Y40.. any guesses which one this would have??... WRONG !!.. due to popular demand.. they created a new grade - Y15!!
WEIGHT: 5.5LBS (this stamped steel basket, thin t-yoke & washer - thicker ones are not required in Y15!)

any takers?

happy listening!!

This is my favorite part of the post...

THIS IS A MULTI ITEM LISTING
EACH QTY OF 1 IS FOR
1 DSW10 10" SUBWOOFER

YOU MUST PURCHASE 2 FOR A PAIR

glad they clarified that issue... wouldn't want any confusion as to what a pair is....

I didn't mean radio shack fullrange drivers, they're ultra!

Sorry if my post struck anybody as insulting, I didn't mean to. It was meant as a joke...

The driver I referred to was a 10" woofer that appeared to ha a magnet only half the size it appeared to have because they fixed a plastic "container" over the magnet. I used them in my first DIYed speakers and was very disappointed when I discovered it..

I actually had good results with cheap woofers, many times supplied without thiele parameters. There are any shops that will measure them for you, a shop in my neighborhood does it for 15 EUR. That way at least you know what you're working with....

I don't need woofers, but anyone who buys them would be very helpful to post the parameters after measurement....
