Default Sony XS-L102P5S Question

Hi all,

I want to built a vented box with Sony XS-L102P5S driver. I know its an auto subwoofer but i will use that driver because i already have that one. The thiele parameters are;

Qts:0,41
Vas: 52lt.
Fs:26,6Hz
Xmax: 62mm
Qms:8,4
Qes:0,43
SPL: 89dB
Diam:250mm (outer)

As i calculated i will make a 55lt. box and will put two 50mm x 280mm ports on it. With this box i can get 25,6Hz F3 (WinISD says). I plan to built box as a cube (41x41x41 cm). But at this point i have some questions;
- Does cube design ok for that project? Because WinISD says 42x65x26cm is optimum for 55lt effective volume! Does it make difference if i make it on cube style?
- I cannot use one port because of its lenght (with 100mm port it will take 570mm!) Alternatively i will use two 50mm ports and 280mm each. And vent mach will stay 0,09. Do you think its ok? Or should i use one large and long port?
- For that design; should i place the driver the bottom side (of course will put the distances to bottom side) Or should i put the driver front side? Does that two way make different results? Ot you can advice a better installation methode?
Thanks a lot for your recomendations in advance.

Best regards,
Özgür.

A cube shape is fine, standing waves aren't an issue at your target frequency with a box of this size.

Ports don' t have to be straight, use the larger port and use bends to fit it in the enclosure, don't forget to allow for the volume the port takes up in the box.

I try and avoid mounting subs facing up or down because of the potential for cone sag.
