DIY Subwoofer Driver

Hey fellow Diy'ers

Im wanna Build a subwoofer Driver as in the whole thing, back plate, voice coil, cone, spider, basket, top plate and what ever. I was just googling diy drivers and subwoofers but lol all I get is lots of projects on "boxes" but cant find anything on a diy driver.

Could anyone please tell me off a book or site that could help me build my Driver?

Ive think ive seen a thread on this before but cant find it.

and some info or a direction to info on the magnetic gap and flux would be nice thanks, sorry for such a bother but this is the only place I could think of to get help for such a project.

do a search for Parthenon. This is a cute little sub design done by Dan Wiggins at Adire. Very cool. It is definatly the big daddy of all subs and was pretty much laid out as to how to diy your own.

Ive done a search on the Parthenon and a few others things but all that comes up are old buildings and motors of cars, could you please give a link on what you are talking about?

I haven't tried this before, but I think it would be quite a challenge. One approach is to "start small." You could get a cheapie driver and experiment with it - measure its parameters, then start replacing some of its parts to try to improve it. Say use the cone and basket, but try upsizing the magnet and winding your own bigger VC to get more xmax. You might experiment with modifying the cone to get the desired mass, hence fs. This route gets you down to a result quicker, and gets around some of the challenging parts to fabricate.
