Default Is this a Titanic?

There's a very Titanic-looking 12" sub on special at PartsExpress.

Does anyone know if this is a previous version like the MkII or something?

If I didn't already have too many subs (the wife is getting a little unpleasant about it frankly...) I might jump at a pair of these...

Default Parts Express eBay Auction site

Currently there is a 12" Titanic on the auction site that P/E has in eBay. The last time it bid, the reserve was not met at $91.... so that will give you an idea of where you need to start....

Default That's not a Titanic.

No, that isn't a Titanic. The Titanic uses a different basket, and has a lower FS and a higher QTS.

If you ask me, it looks a LOT like an Adire Audio DPL 12. The specs aren't identical, but they're VERY close.

It's also very similar to the Eminence LAB12, but it isn't the same driver. The LAB12 has a larger motor, higher BL, and lower inductance.

For $50, the LAB12 is hard to pass up really.

I don't know. I have way too many subs anyway but one of them is a 15" Titanic MkIII in a ported box and it's really good.

I'd buy another Titanic if I needed a sub and I'd gladly pay only $100 for it. As it is I'm building stereo Ravas out of a pair of Shiva Mark IIs that I've had in my car for five years.

I don't really need any more subs but if those are Titanics on sale at PartsExpress the community at large should know about it and have a crack at them.

Default Made by Eminence...

you are going to have do some spec comparrisons to find out (maybe) what it is but it is a nice sub for very little money. You could do a lot worse and pay a lot more. These would work in a Ripole or Dipole design and not take up much space. Though not the most efficient driver it seems to be a huge bang for the buck and probably next to impossible for you to destroy. Built like a tank by Eminence. Probably a custom OEM run that never never got sold to the mfger for any assortment of reasons. How can you loose? Regards Moray James.
