OB Sub, which amp?

thinking of making an OB speaker (on my fullrage thread) and was wondering if there was a sub amp that would drive say 2 Dayton RS225's each side, or would i have to use one sub amp per channel, if i can, i would like to use the high pass filter on the sub for the FullRanger on top.

Well what is the impedance of the Dayton's? If they are 8 ohms each, you just need to find a sub amp that can handle 4 ohms, which should be easy enough.

you can get either a 4 or 8 ohm version, i have a sub at the moment, a Tannoy TS8, i guess its a 4ohm amp (200w), could i use that if it is?

Best stop guessing and take the Tannoy apart It might have some other fixed EQ that you need to deal with though.

the drive unit measures 3.1 Ohms so i guess its 200w at 4Ohms

Good stuff. Is the Tannoy a vented box? Might be less likely to have some EQ then.

I'd go with 8 ohm versions, wire them parallel to get a 4 ohm load for each amp channel. Behringer A500 is a good choice. 230w into 4 ohms per channel. I doubt you would need more than this for OB use. If this were a box sub, then I'd suggest Behringer EP2500 with 650w into 4 ohms per channel or 1200 into 2 ohms. The latter amp has a fan and so would have to go in another room, or in floor/ceiling.
