Thinking about Tom Danley's Fireworks recording:
FYI: Tom Danley's no compression fireworks recording......... http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/hu...es/110920.html I was wondering if anybody out there has other uncompressed recordings like that which they'd be willing to contribute to the community: -- Thunderstorms -- Locomotives (Diesel or Steam) -- Foghorns -- Explosions / Demolition Or any other real-world stuff that might have a decent amount of low bass content. Anyone?? --Greg |

That's the recording I referenced in my first post. I also just picked up that FreeSound site from AVSForum the other day. But some of the stuff on that site seems heavily manipulated. Maybe I just haven't found the right samples yet. --Greg |

I've often fancied attempting a full dynamic range recording of a big diesel loco passing close by at speed - that is an impressive sound, with turbos whistling and the engines (front and rear) thundering as they pass!
Not yet figured out a way of doing it, as the equipment I have available isn't exactly portable.... |

I did a few diesel locos a couple of years ago onto DAT. (Would you believe I was just listening to them yesterday!) I used a couple of diy Panasonic mics straight into the line ins on the dat deck. Eventually, I got a couple of good takes (the mics were distorting just a little) but I am going to try again as soon as I make the Linkwitz-mod mics. Definitely low bass there
