Following ShinOBIWAN's Perceive's 2.0 thread I am curious as to what amplifier is capable of powering a (2) B&C 12TBX100 drivers in parallel in a non-aligned bass reflex enclosure.

Could a modded HPSA 1000 from Parts Express do the job?

1 - check the impedance curve for lowest impedance and take a50% safety margin (downwards!);

2 - check speaker efficiency and the loudness you want to determine max power from the amp and take 3dB safety margin (upwards!);

3 - select amp that can deliver the required power at the min impedance.

4 - Done!

Now, you will get a lot of answers of people giving of-the-cuff answers. You can select one from those at random and take your chances...:cool:

The power requirement would depend a lot on the size of box used, and to a smaller extent the tuning.

There is no such thing as a non-aligned bass reflex, they are all alignments, just some have been characterised and given names.

What mods were you proposing for the HPSA1000? It appears to be rated at 500 watts for 4 ohm loads which would probably be fine if they are real watts. I personally think there isn't enough heatsinking for that to be a real power figure.
